So today I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC
to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit entitled Savage Beauty.
The exhibit will be there until July 31st so if your in NYC I highly suggest to take a trip there.
The dress is from the Sarabande Collection which was Spring/Summer 2007.
This gown is a Nude Silk Organza embroidered with Silk and Fresh Flowers.
This gown is absolutely stunning in person, the detail that went into the construction of this beautiful work of art is amazing.
This is a photo from McQueen's last collection before his tragic death.
The exhibit featured work from his earlier collections to the present.
It was an amazing exhibit, to see the beautiful details of the gowns and his quotes found all around was an unforgettable experience.
"I try to push the silhouette. To change the silhouette is to change the thinking of how we look." -McQueen
This was just one of the quotes about a collection he did which was largely based on African tribes.
Overall, I love this exhibition! It was stunning and beautiful.
McQueen's quotes were so inspiriting as well.
Has anyone when to Savage Beauty and if so what are your thoughts? <3
i would love to go to one of there! <3 too bad its not here where i live T.T
ReplyDeleteand recently I've started liking Alexander Mcqueen, i was going to buy this book about all of his collections and all of that but people said that not all of his best work was in there so i ended up not buying it
